The Mullins Family
A Family Legacy Under The Golden Arches
David Jr. and David Sr.
David Mullins Jr. carries on a family tradition deeply rooted in the Golden Arches. David’s father, David Mullins Sr., took his first job working for the brand in St. Cloud, Florida; having no other name but McDonald’s on his paychecks for the whole of his career.
Following a rigorous training process with McDonald’s corporate, and with a loan from his father-in-law, David Sr. eventually became a franchise owner in the early 1990s under the name DCC LEE Enterprises. His success with the company continued as he served as the Jacksonville Co-Op president for a time and grew his franchise across North Florida.
Growing up immersed in the world of McDonald’s, David Jr. spent his childhood gaining firsthand experience in multiple restaurant roles; learning the ins and outs of the business. He began his official employment with the company in 2006 and never looked back, working part-time through high school and college, often taking on late-night and weekend shifts.
After a successful college football career at the University of South Florida; where he met his wife, Crystal, David further sharpened his skills by working for various other McDonald’s franchisees across Florida. This experience with diverse Owner/Operators, crew, and customers prepared him with the knowledge and expertise to eventually lead his own organization.
Following in his father’s footsteps, David joined the family business after college and eventually assumed partial ownership in 2009. Under his leadership, DCC LEE expanded from eight locations to 23. In late 2017, recognizing the importance of work-life balance and having a desire to prioritize his family, David and his father decided to reduce the number of locations to nine, where the company stands today. In 2021 David Sr. retired and sold his majority of the organization, allowing David Jr. to become sole owner.
David’s early experiences in McDonald's restaurants, combined with his time on the gridiron, instilled in him the qualities of teamwork, discipline, and resilience. His emphasis on approachability and an open-door policy fosters a supportive and collaborative work environment, while his focus on building a strong leadership team demonstrates his belief in empowering others.
As a dedicated family man, David looks forward to passing the McDonald’s torch to his two sons. He envisions a future where the Mullins family legacy continues by providing opportunities for generations of his family and others in the Jacksonville area; providing them with opportunities to develop soft skills, gain leadership experience, and catch the entrepreneurial spirit.
